First look at Prosper AI

Stakeholder interviews

On my first day, I met with the founders to listen to and understand their vision better. Very admirably, the CEO and CTO decided to start the design of the mobile app to start attracting registrants on the waitlist. I took note of the founders’ future product vision brought up in team meetings and one-on-one conversations.

Data-driven platform

“Create impactful introductions between candidates and companies”

Drive quality hiring decisions

“AI helps guarantee interviews for the candidates with job matches”

Save time and effort

“Candidates are only shown jobs that closely match their skill set

Getting started

Understanding the problem

After years of dealing with ineffective job board options at corporations, recruiting firms, and startups, the founders of Prosper AI have all been negatively affected by the broken system that currently plagues the job market. Due to their frustrations, they decided a better option had to exist. Thus Prosper AI was born. Prosper AI is designed specifically to drive quality hiring decisions in a radically time-efficient manner.

GOALS

  • Establish a visual design identity that carries through different marketing and promotional materials

  • Create a mobile app to provide an easy job search process for the candidates based on their interests, needs and skill set

Understanding the users

User research

I was provided with most of the research by the team as well as user stories to begin my ideation process.

I also noted the end users we were designing for:

227,827

Recruiters in the US

10.7 million

Job seekers in the US

Understanding the space

Competitive analysis

Before starting my ideation process, I wanted to gain a better understanding of the market and make sure I created a design that was consistent with the industry. I compared other applicant tracking software (ATS) in the market as well as job search sites that recruiters can use that way I was able to identify what they do well and what could be improved to make Prosper AI stand out.

Design direction

Getting oriented

To start the build of a solution, my partner and I delved into the world of Prosper AI to get a feel of where the brand was at and look for design elements that were in line with what the founders wanted.

Looking through the existing app designs, it was clear that consistency needed to be improved. It contained a number of different fonts and colors which distracted from the overall message and hindered the app’s functionality.

Color palette

While the founder already had a logo that they liked and wanted to keep, they were not sure about the colors.

I tested different color palettes with their existing logo and also make sure to choose a color that reflected a data-driven platform and ensure readability of data for the recruiters as they would most often use Prosper AI to get information about the candidates and to chose which one is the right match for their company. Because of that, I opted to a light color palette that was soft for the eyes and easy to read on.

Blues were chosen as the primary colors since it is a color associated with trustworthiness, professionalism and efficiency.
